Rector Francisco Rojas Aravena and Dean Juan Carlos Sainz-Borgo were received at the European Parliament by Deputy Representative of Spain Ramon Auregui Atondo who also represents the parliamentary group between Europe and Latin America.

The Costa Rican delegation was cordially invited to participate in the activities scheduled in parliament with the aim of having cooperation dialogues between UPEACE and different European organizations and projects interested in the educational system of the University for Peace and its progress on subjects like development, environment, peace, human rights and migration.

As the main deliberative body, the European Parliament and Parliamentarians are the first representatives of citizens in the legislative branch of the European Union, which has shown interest in peace initiatives proposed by the University for Peace and has provided the opportunity to cooperate with Central American countries, especially in Honduras where UPEACE has worked uncompromisingly on issues of Human Rights, Migration and Peace.

Finally, Dr. Rojas met with Ms. Jolita Butkeviciene, director for Latin America at DEVCO who was very interested in participating in projects, financing scholarships and in a fund for Refugees, a project the University is leading.
