In 2017, UPEACE successfully concluded a three-year project in collaboration with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). This initiative provided scholarships and training to 140 women, focusing on disarmament and non-proliferation activities within the context of peace and conflict resolution. The project featured four distinct training sessions held in Addis Ababa, Cairo, Bangkok, and San Jose.

Building on this success, in January 2018, UPEACE launched a second initiative: the OSCE Scholarship for Peace. Partnering with UNODA and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), this program involved collaboration with 28 organizations dedicated to disarmament, non-proliferation (DNP), and related development issues. It offers comprehensive training programs designed to equip 70 young professionals—both women and men—from OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation with essential skills and knowledge in conflict prevention and resolution, emphasizing arms control, disarmament, and OSCE-relevant instruments.
